The History of Magazines: From Print to Digital

Image
Magazines have come a long way since they first appeared in the 1600s. Early magazines, like Erbauliche Monaths-Unterredungen (1663), focused on essays and book reviews for scholars. By the 1700s, magazines like The Gentleman’s Magazine became more popular and covered general topics like politics and fashion. In the 1800s and early 1900s, magazines like Harper’s Weekly and National Geographic grew thanks to better printing and more readers. Later, magazines started targeting specific groups, like teens (Seventeen) or sports fans (Sports Illustrated), making them even more popular. When the internet took over, magazines went digital. Big names like Time and Vogue created websites, and new online magazines like BuzzFeed became hits with younger readers. Magazines teach us the importance of knowing your audience and staying creative. Two major things I’ll be focusing on for my project. Citations "The History of Magazines." THINK LIKE A CINEMATOGRAPHER

Image
Menacing school building photographing the menacing school building, I use low angles and natural, overcast light to create a moody atmosphere, highlighting its imposing nature.  Intense conversation I focused on capturing the emotions on the subjects’ faces, using close-up shots to emphasize their urgency and tension. I'd choose angles that draw viewers into the moment, making them feel the weight of the discussion. Person that looks happy I focused on capturing their bright smile and carefree demeanor, using vibrant colors to contrast with the calm background.

PRELIMINARY TASK: DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD EXPLANATION

Image
This is the my double page spread which is about a young chef who has taken the culinary world by storm.       My double page spread also features a picture of the chef and a picture of their cooking. The color scheme i chose for the double page spread piggybacks off the cover page and the table of contents.  I had an extremely good time working on this as I am extremely passionate about food and all related subjects.  Until next time.

PRELIMINARY TASK: TABLE OF CONTENTS EXPLANATION

Image
Hello again, For my table of content, the color scheme remained relatively the same from the cover page. I chose a font that gave off a professional yet fun feel. In the corner you are able to see an image that was taken by me of a cheesecake that i and a partner baked in the culinary club, everything from my table of contents piggybacks off my cover page.  In my table of contents it has 4 different topics such as sweet which is look at sweets and dessert. It has Chefs of tomorrow where i am going to interview young chefs about their cooking. It then has asian cuisine, i will be doing a shallow dive into the cuisine of asian countries and Finally, there is a fast food segment which is pretty self explanatory.

PRELIMINARY TASK: COVER PAGE EXPLANATION

Image
Hello readers, my cover page features a title, foodie chronicles which shows what my preliminary magazine is going to be about. My cover page features pictures i took of some baked goods such as brownies and a cake. The topic of my preliminary magazine is what's cooking? which shows what i am going to be exploring, different foods and who they are made by, particularly sweet stuff a this is a sweets edition.       My cover page does its job extraordinarily well as it gets across the point of my magazine without being too clustered. I took a minimalistic approach to my cover page putting only what is needed on it. My cover page color scheme are colors that are easy on the eye such as pink, red, gray and black. they combine well and i like those colors and felt they would bring a touch of professionalism to the preliminary magazine.      This was an easy task as i already had the pictures of sweets i baked and that helped with ...
