CANVA LESSONS PART 1

    Today in class, we were introduced to Canva and how to navigate it. This was a very useful lesson as it showed us how to make our blogs that much better and it is also going to be critical when we are creating our magazines. In Canva lesson 1-6 we were shown some of the basics of Canva such as lines, shape, etc.  

 

Lesson 1: Lines We started off with something easy by putting a line on a page and then changing the color to something we liked. We went to elements then shapes then selected a line. The color i picked was red 

Lesson 2: Shapes We went to elements then we picked a shape (a square), we increased the size and then changed the color.  

Lesson 3: Graphics We went to elements then graphics, we searched for the earth, put it on a blank page then made it flip horizontally. 

Lesson 4: Photos We went to elements, then photos, we chose a picture of the sun then inserted it to the blank page.  

Lesson 5: Videos We went to elements, then videos, we selected a video of the solar system then we trimmed it.  

Lesson 6: Pictogram We went to elements, inserted a pictogram of people then changed it from people to cars then change the number of items to 8. We were also instructed to change the colors which I did, the colors I changed to were red and black.

CAMERA SHOTS

  The focus of this blog is camera shots. Learning different camera shots is going to help with my magazine. ESTABLISHING SHOT   The purpose of the establishing shot is to depict the surrounding landscape or environment. This original shot establishes where the pictures are being taken.   AERIAL SHOT   Aerial shots look down on a scene or characters. My original photo represents the aerial shot as the shot is looking down at my picture subject. LONG SHOT     When the whole body of the person or figure is in the frame, this is called a long shot. The long shot also clearly shows the background of the figure. WIDE S HOT   Wide shot allows for viewers to read the body language of different characters and how they interact with each other. My wide shot is the jrotc marching and the viewer can clearly read their body language.

Syllabus reflection

  Media studies is an international AICE course, it is a course that is focused on today’s important topics like fashion, sports, music, film, radio and podcasts, print, etc. I’m looking forward to the research we must do to create our blogs and magazines, another thing about this course that i am interested in is finding out what media skills that i can learn and finding out how i will be able to apply them in my everyday life. There are some aspects of the course that make me nervous such as the process of making the blogs , another aspect of the course that makes me nervous is the grading standards that we will be held up to as this is a Cambridge class. My biggest worry though is whether i will pass the final exam or not.   I hope to gain a deeper understanding of media related products that we use in our everyday lives.   "created with canva"
